The CDL team designs CAD files, creates 3D printed moulds, and uses the latest milling and drilling machines and technologies to produce components to customers’ exacting specifications. CDL can produce cost effective solutions for almost any requirement whether it is high volume series production of aluminium parts or titanium or armoured steel parts or oversized steel parts in small runs.

CDL uses modern machine tools working with sophisticated computer programs to convert 3D CAD files and raw materials into finished parts within hours, ideally for short lead times and getting parts to market quickly. The team also offers assistance on design development and best machining practices, as well as advice on design modifications or production techniques which to help reduce production costs without compromising specifications.

Valve Housing Spare Parts
A client in the agriculture sector had produced 150 machines with a defective component and did not have CAD files or a spare parts backup. CDL created a 3D printed casting mould and machined the part on their prototyping machine. The client was presented with 150 parts out of the original material within 5 working days including the design of the CAD file, casting, and machining.

Raw Material Sourcing
Effective supply chain management starts with sourcing. Over the years, CDL has cultivated long-term relationships with many industry leading foundries which enable CDL to source high-quality raw materials, castings, forgings, and fabricated weldments on the clients’ behalf. CDL’s advanced ERP system triggers material buying based on material lead time and forecasted volume ensuring raw material is always on hand.
Series production
The collaboration starts as early as during the design stage. CDL offers a detailed consultation regarding the design aimed at simplifications, standardisations, and manufacturing process improvements. Each computer-assisted design is run through the three-dimensional simulation program. Experienced design engineers tailor the clamping concept to the functional, casting and production requirements. Successful and failure-free simulations of machining processes are further preconditions for the subsequent production of the parts.

Part Assembly

Complete Assembly Service
A client in the railway sector asked CDL for help with managing the entire CNC process. In addition to machining the parts, CDL, at a highly competitive price, offered to handle purchasing for rough castings, washers and wrought material, provide technical support, and manage pressing of bearings, surface treatment, assembly of parts, commissioning and labelling the parts. CDL’s flexibility and capabilities across the board have enabled the client achieve significant cost savings and streamline its machining operations.
Quality assurance
CDL’s temperature controlled measuring room with state-of-the-art high accuracy measuring and testing devices provide the technical basis for the geometric evaluation of produced components. Typically, our parts are manufactured to tolerance ranges of just a few thousandths of millimetres. If required, CDL also offers X-ray technology services and other tests such as MPI and FPI.

All employees take personal responsible for the quality of their respective work. In the frame of continuous process improvement manufacturing the quality capability of the whole organisation is being continuously enhanced.

The manufacturing and quality assurance processes are checked at regular intervals by internal and external audits. CDL is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 and has obtained a manufacturer-related product qualification for the manufacture of safety components for railway vehicles according to DB AC – E BN 918 058.

Machine Cost-optimisation
A client in the agricultural engineering sector came to CDL and asked for help to cost-optimize a several parts for them. CDL managed to simplify the assembly by designing a single casted part – instead of two welded parts – which led to additional efficiencies in machining.
